Like someone else said, I like how it cuts before the actual explosion happens so it feels more comedic. On top of that having an explosion randomly is a bit unexpected and gives the satisfaction of seeing one at the same time.

I can't think of a message sprinkled throughout the video aside from the fact that Steve seems to bee traveling through the updates, in the order of 1.11, 1.9, 1.14, 1.16, 1.17.

EDIT: I believe the message has the letters P0:01 E1:04 K?1:45 E2:29 W?4:01 E4:28. I'm not sure because SO many little lines look like enchanting table characters.
